Keeping you informed about your journey

We’re making some changes to help you stay up to date and keep in touch with what’s happening on our roads.

Keeping you informed about your journey

We’re working closely with leading navigation and journey planning providers, including Google, Waze and TomTom, who use our traffic data within their services. This means you can continue to get the latest information in one place, using the tools you already rely on to plan your journeys.

As part of this change, the Traffic England website is now closed, and some email subscription services will also be coming to an end.

What you can still access

You’ll continue to be able to find key information directly through our website, including:

What this means for you

  • You’ll still have access to the same important information
  • Updates will be more current and accurate
  • Information will be clearer and easier to use
  • You can check road conditions whenever it suits you

These changes are part of an ongoing programme to improve how we share information. We’ll continue to listen to feedback and develop our services to better meet your needs.

Finding the data you need

We know how important high-quality data is for decision-making. This is still available through our National Highways Digital Lab website, where you can access our data services and integrate them into your own systems.

Available datasets include:

  • road and lane closures
  • variable message signs (VMS)
  • speed-managed areas
  • road limits and network features
  • diversion routes
