Emergency Alerts is a UK government service that will warn you if there’s a danger to life nearby.
In an emergency, your mobile phone or tablet will receive an alert with advice about how to stay safe.
What to expect
Your mobile phone or tablet may:
- make a loud siren-like sound, even if it’s set on silent
- vibrate
- read out the alert
The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds
This video shows you what the alert will look and sound like.
If you're driving - don't pick up your mobile
Using phones while driving is dangerous and illegal. Don't pick up your phone or try to read the message.
Remember this is a test. It will only last around 10 seconds after which it will switch off automatically
What you'll see on our network
We'll be using our electronic signs to remind people not to use phones while driving. Here's what you can expect to see.
