The M1 in Nottinghamshire is closed northbound between J26 (for Nottingham) and J27 (for Mansfield) due to a serious collision.

Emergency services including Nottinghamshire Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service are in attendance.

National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene providing assistance with traffic management.

Due to the nature of the incident, the road is likely to be closed into the night.

Diversion Route

Diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol:

  • Exit the M1 northbound at J26 and take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto the A610 westbound towards Ripley
  • Continue on the A610 for approximately 10 miles until the A38/A610 Hartshay Interchange 
  • Turn right at the roundabout onto the A38 northbound
  • Continue on the A38 northbound for 6 miles and then re-join the M1 northbound at J28
