Lower Thames Crossing - Latest news - Design refinement consultation now closed

The design refinement consultation closed on 12 August 2020

The latest consultation on a number of refinements to the design of the proposed Lower Thames Crossing project has now closed (at 23.59 on 12 August 2020).

All of the proposed changes, alongside the consultation documents and an archive of the online exhibition and recordings of our webinars, can be found on the consultation page.

At the initial count, more than 1,000 people responded to the proposed design refinements, with nearly 54,000 unique visitors to the dedicated consultation website and over 13,000 visits to the online exhibition.

Members of the public who did not have access to the internet were able to order consultation materials delivered to their home free of charge, and book a call back from a member of the project team to answer their questions about the proposed refinements.

Shaun Pidcock, Project Director, for the Lower Thames Crossing, said: “We’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to visit our online exhibition, attending our webinars, speaking to us over the phone and emailing and writing to us with feedback. Your responses will help shape this transformative project to maximise its benefits.

“We’ll continue to work with businesses, communities and local authorities to develop the design and maximise opportunities to unlock economic growth and improve access to leisure, retail and job opportunities.”

Now our design refinement consultation has closed, we are hard at work analysing the responses. These will inform the plans for our planning application, known as a Development Consent Order (DCO) application, to be submitted later this year.

Part of the DCO application will be a Consultation Report, explaining how the issues raised during the consultations were considered and responded to.
