About

Our work has focused on better understanding the current demands on the A34 between the M4 and M40 and the opportunities to reduce congestion and improve safety.

About

The Oxford area plays a key role in providing connections east and west, as well as north and south.

The A34 supports people and businesses and is a key commuter route. It's also used by businesses to send goods and services around the country – and to bring goods and services to communities.

The area is a popular place to live and work and continues to attract businesses and people keen to be part of its success.

Project focus

National Highways has been exploring opportunities to reduce congestion on the A34 between the M4 and M40. The project area is shown on the map below.

This included understanding how the A34 and local roads interact, so that potential improvements could be identified.

Local stakeholders and key partners have shared their knowledge and experience of the A34 with us, which helped to inform our work.
