Ground investigation surveys happening in the area

We’ve finalised our arrangements and now plan to put in place lane closures later on Monday 14 September after the evening rush hour. We’ll continue to assess our traffic management measures over the course of the works.

The works are part of an ongoing programme to comprehensively understand ground conditions along the route of the scheme.  This further work is important to ensure information the project has is up to date, this can then be shared with companies bidding to build the scheme, should it get the green light from government in November.   

Local residents and drivers may need to allow extra time for their journeys during weekdays as lane closures will be in place. These are needed to ensure the safety of the workforce drilling boreholes and digging trial pits on behalf of Highways England.

Lane closures will be in place from 10am Monday mornings and removed by 6am Friday mornings.

The work is planned to finish by Friday 9 October.

Over the summer, we have been carrying out ecology surveys along the proposed route of the scheme – from counting butterflies, monitoring ground water levels and measuring the activity of all kinds of wildlife including bats, otters and water voles.
