An important objective for the scheme has been to leave a positive legacy for Cambridgeshire, once the project is completed. With so many opportunities in construction now and in future, we worked with local communities to encourage young people to consider construction and engineering as an exciting career choice.
Building careers in the local community
We worked with over 40 local schools and colleges, attended over 260 career events, and engaged with career professionals, so they can learn how major construction and engineering projects like the A14 scheme are delivered, and find out what skills are needed to deliver them. We worked with a further 12 schools as part of our archaeological outreach programme.
We welcomed over 70 young people to attend work experience on the project, employed over 145 apprentices and 63 graduates across the project.
