  Bridge work during November 2023

  We’ll be carrying out essential bridge joint repairs on the A14 west of junction 37.

  We plan to complete this work overnight on Friday 10 November and Saturday 18 November 2023, weather conditions permitting. 

  Closures and diversions

  To carry out the work safely, overnight closures will be needed and whilst the A14 is closed, traffic will be diverted as follows:

  A14 eastbound closure between junction 35 and 39.	8pm to 4am on Saturday 18 November 2023	A14 eastbound traffic: Traffic will be diverted from the A14 at junction 35, onto the A1303, A1304 and B1506 before re-joining the A14 at junction 39.  A11 northbound traffic: Traffic will be diverted from the A11 at Six Mile Bottom, onto the A1304 and B1506 before re-joining A14 at junction 38.

  Upcoming road closures

  Further road closures are scheduled in autumn as part of our ongoing resurfacing scheme on the A14, which is now scheduled to be completed during October 2023.

  The work involves resurfacing carriageway, replacing road markings, road studs and traffic count loops.

  We'll be working overnight, weather permitting, between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only.

  Closure	Date and Time	Diversion route
  Eastbound closed between junction 42 and 43.	23 – 27 October	Traffic will be diverted from A14 junction 38 Waterhall to A11, travel northbound towards Elveden to London Road roundabout, take the third exit to return southbound on A11 and take London Road exit. Once on London Road take the first left onto Elveden Road, continue until you reach to A134. Take right onto A134 and travel southbound, remaining on A134 until you reach junction 43 St Saviours Interchange in Bury St Edmunds.
