    Upcoming A120 closures

We plan to complete this work over 5 months between Tuesday 11 April and mid-September. We'll work between 8pm and 6am week-nights, weather conditions permitting.

    Closure Date/time Diversion
A120 Panners Interchange to Marks Farm – eastbound only. Monday 24 April to Friday 4 August, weeknights only. A120 eastbound traffic will be diverted via Panners Interchange onto the A131 and A130 before joining the A12 at junction 19 to continue their journey
A120 Marks Farm to Panners Interchange – westbound only. Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September. Westbound traffic will be diverted via the A12 at junction 25 towards junction 19, onto the A130 and along the A131 before re-joining the A120 at Braintree to continue their journey

There will also be a 40mph speed restriction during the day.

Please note: Properties and businesses located in the vicinity of the A120 between Panners Interchange and Marks Farm Roundabout may experience construction noise during the works from Monday 24 April. We will ensure that measures are taken to keep noise levels to a minimum and aim to complete the noisier tasks earlier in the night, where possible. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Project information

Overview

Work on the this stretch of road includes barrier replacement, signage renewal, resurfacing, road studs, road lining placement and other safety improvements. The work here is essential, will contribute to the life expectancy of the road and make journeys safer for motorists.

We’ll make the most of these closures by carrying out as much work as possible. This will prevent the need for further closures in the near future.

Road users will benefit from a new central reservation safety barrier from Panners interchange to Marks Farm as well as some new signs. There will also be a new road surface on the eastbound side from Panners to Galleys Corner with new road marking and studs to improve reflectivity and visibility.
