M4 - Between J8/9 and J10 - Carriageway Closure

The M4 in Berkshire is closed in both directions between J8/9 (Maidenhead) and J10 (Reading) due to a collision

Police and Ambulance crews are on scene 

National Highways traffic officers are assisting with road closures.

Diversion Details

Diverted traffic heading west is advised to follow the hollow square diversion symbol:

• Leave the M4 at J8/9, and take the second exit off the roundabout onto the A404M

• Follow the A404M to J9B - The Thicket roundabout.

• Take the first exit off the roundabout and follow the A4 towards Reading. 

• At the A4/A3290 roundabout take the first exit onto the A3290

• Follow the A3290 onto the A329M to the M4 Junction 10, rejoin the M4 westbound.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted via the hollow circle symbol on road signs:

• Leave the M4 at J10 and join the A329M northbound which then merges with the A3290.
• Exit at the junction with the A4
• At the roundabout take the third exit onto the A4 towards Maidenhead.
• At A404M J9B Thicket roundabout, take the third exit and follow the A404M
• At the roundabout take take the second exit to rejoin the M4 eastbound.
